Services
The Gloucester Veterinary Hospital first opened it doors in July of 1985. We took over the building in the spring of that year and set about converting what was once a family dwelling into our very own Veterinary Hospital. It was a lot of work, but the building adapted quite nicely to our needs.
With the addition of a wall here and there, a door or two in existing walls, upgrades to the plumbing and electrical systems, a new floor and a few gallons of paint, the main building was ready to go.The kennel area took a bit more work. Dog runs were constructed with a drain system connecting back to the main building, a separate "isolation" ward was created for potentially infectious cases and both feeding and laundry areas were added.

Dr. John Scarlett graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph in 1982. He worked at the Ottawa Veterinary Hospital and Emergency Clinic until 1985 when he founded the Gloucester Veterinary Hospital. It has certainly been quite an experience watching the clinic grow over the years.
We know that you will be very happy with the care that we will provide your pet as well as our services and client support. As a new client to our practice you can expect our full dedication to the health of your pet. When you arrive you will be greeted warmly as we check you in. We will do our best to make sure you are brought into an examination room as soon as we have one available.
Annual Physical Examinations and Discussion of Health Care Issues form the basis for good Preventative Veterinary Health Care for your pets. A General Physical Examination may detect or serve as an early warning for developing health problems. Discussions on care or management can then follow.
The annual visit also gives you, the Pet Owner an opportunity to inquire on issues of General Health Care, Nutrition, Behaviour, or any other topics that relate to the care or wellbeing of your Pet.Appropriate Vaccinations may also be given to help reduce the risk of certain infectious diseases.

This diagnostic procedure can allow us to visualize your Pet's internal organs in a manner that is often more efficient than X-Rays. We sometimes describe an X-Ray like a photograph or a two-dimensional image, while ultrasound is more like a movie. We are able to see inside an organ and look for abnormalities in its structure or even, in some cases such as the heart, see it in action and assess abnormalities in its function.

I have been dealing with the Gloucester Veterinary Hospital since 1990 - many years and a number of cats (8) & 2 dogs over the years. Always great staff, great care and the price is reasonable. I have appreciated the reliable service and care I have always received. Thank-you very much! Highly recommended!

Excellent vet. Caring, patient and helpful in making sure everything is properly explained. They always compassionately follow up with us after we have left the clinic for days just to make sure everything is going well
They also are excellent at providing options and considering costs. 100% would recommend.

Dr McLaren does such a great job with our cat (even though he hates her). He's gone from having to be examined in a separate room to having everything done super quickly without a fight :) Dr McLaren always has time to listen to any concerns, and the rest of the staff are great, too. The one time I needed a same-day appointment, I was slotted in with no problem. I've gotten advice over the phone and I really appreciate their evidence-based approach instead of peddling whatever trendy pseudoscience is currently making the rounds in veterinary science, like so many other places I had researched do

I have been taking my large golden dooodle here for almost 11 years. I find the staff always friendly and welcoming with real concern for their four legged clients. I think Dr Scarlett has real concern for providing the best treatment possible for my dog at all times. My dog runs from my truck to the front door, excited to renew acqaintances with the staff every time we need a visit. Can't get a much better endorsement than that.

Dr. Scarlett is wonderful. I have spent years being overcharged for shots that my indoor cats do not need. Other vets I have seen just push it because the eh are told too. Dr. Scarlett tells the truth, the honest truth, without trying to gauge for money or force unnecessary treatments. Great advice every time I go and great to talk to. He was even ready for my ten million questions when I asked him about puppy training. The staff is so nice and sweet. I see some people saying that the staff was mean... never encountered this at all. Wonderful people.
