Born and raised just up the road from the present clinic site, Joel is the only son of Harry and Patricia Rumney. Joel's desire to become a veterinarian was born from this background of farming and animal husbandry. In his studies at the University of Guelph, Joel completed a bachelor's degree in both biology and animal sciences before admission to the Ontario Veterinary College.
Joel realized that he wanted to come back to the family farm to establish a practice. In his final year at OVC, he designed and planned the current facility. Joel's carpentry and building skills led to his interest and proficiency in surgery and orthopedics, areas that he still enjoys immensely. Growing up with a multitude of pets, Dr. Edie knows the love and richness that they bring into our lives.

Wonderful vet service. Everyone was so nice and the vet took the time to explain to me why our farm dog has been having such trouble with his ears and was very detailed with instructions to treat him. Everyone was so kind and patient with our rather large German Shephard who has quite a bit of anxiety when at the vet. Very practical treatment. Thank you so much, we are so grateful you took such good care of him today.

In all the years I have been going to vets (we've been to about 6 or 7) with my dogs, I have never experienced the level of care that I have found here.
All the staff is very kind, capable and very knowledgeable. They have been good to fit me in when there is an urgent matter. Here we are treated with respect and without any condescending tones so common in other vet clinics.
I feel lucky to have found such a gem to be able to trust with my pup's care. The location (on a farm) is peaceful and their rates are very reasonable. I never hesitate to recommend them.

I am fairly new to the Midland area and am so THRILLED to have found Midland Veterinary Service!!! My little dog Chloe, has been to the clinic twice for general health check ups, once as a follow-up after her overnight at the Emergency Clinic in Barrie after she ate a box of chocolates (I got a call from MVS immediately after they got a copy of the report), and last week for a pre-dental check-up. All of of the staff and doctors are pleasant and knowledgeable, and it is the first time in my little dogs 11 years that she is not a ball of nerves going to the Vet!! I would recommend MVS to anyone
