Located on the north shore, between the sunken train tracks and the mouth of the river, Sunshine Cove is near ideal living conditions and food sources for fish, making it one of the best fishing spots on the lake! A small 2 bedroom cottages offers great living space and comfort with a great tranquil view of the lake. Large 2 bedroom cottage nestled in amongst beautiful maple trees and offers a large picturesque view of the grounds and Rice Lake. NEW Luxury 2 bedroom cottage nestled in amongst beautiful maple trees and offers a large picturesque view of the grounds and Rice Lake, complete with air conditioning and satellite TV!
The standard number of persons allowed per cottage is four (2 bedrooms) or six (3 bedrooms). ONE EXTRA PERSON may be accommodated in any cottage for an additional charge of $150 per week or $70 per night. Positively NO OVERCROWDING allowed, by order of the Fire Marshall and our insurers. Babies and children of all ages are considered persons too!
Exit on highway 7 east and turn right at first lights (just before Country Style Doughnuts) on to Keene Road. Proceed about 2 kilometres then turn right on Hiawatha Road and continue south to the shores of Rice Lake. Turn right on Paudash Street and continue for 1.5 km, look for the Sunshine Cove sign on your left.

Nightly firepit experience never happened due to owner not supplying wood as promised, very agressivly mouthy spouse aggravating everyone with her abrasive tone, yelling often. ATVs not allowed on premises by guests but 6 to 8 times daily run by owners above posted speed disturbing lakeside tranquility. Attitudes by owners beyond bad!!! But the resort has been sold hope it falls through. They would deserve it. Thank goodness no one else will stay here again under their ownership. Unfortunaly we booked a 4 week stay. Want to go home but no incentive to lose $2000 for the remaining 2 weeks. Had to

We have been visiting for the past couple of years. The cottage is perfect for us and we love the dock and fishing. We highly recommend this location!!
Unfortunately our visit this year was not as relaxing or enjoyable due to a large group who took up all but 2 of the cottages.
They were loud, belligerent, rude and over took the area. When… trying to fish off the dock they continued to over take the entire dock, swimming and jumping into the water right by the fishing lines. They took over the fire pit area and all the chairs available. The kids (probably 8-17 age) vulgar language was disgusting

We have been coming to Sunshine Cove for the last number of years and always have enjoyed our stay, the accommodations are great, the dock and fishing area is perfect set up. Unfortunately this year there was a group that over took all the amenities, swimming across the entire dock while we were trying to fish, were rude, no consideration for the policies of noise, music volume and foul language yelled across the property by the children and teenagers. Dogs off leash and over took the fire pit area. It is a shame and so much so that one of the families not associated with this group left early

The owner Susan is a nightmare of a human being. She's very confrontational with everyone she speaks to, including very young children. The "resort" also misrepresent the condition of their cottages, the rules of the resort and the accommodations that they offer. However, they make it very clear once they have your money.
If you are looking for a nice family get away, I recommend, literally, anywhere but here.
Not only were the owners disgusting but so was the cottage. It was filthy upon arrival. Very outdated. Dishes were all dirty and needed to be rewashed. Mattresses were stained. Drawers

It was an excellent vacation, Susan let us know all the details when we booked. She sent all the paperwork that we needed to fill out. Upon arrival, Susan took the time to explain the rules, yes folks there’s rules, we live in a Covid world and you are on their property. We stayed in Cabin 6, a little rustic, however for any army dog like me,… there was a bed, a roof over my head and a place to cook. I have boated in Rice Lake before and I was iffy on crossing the tracks, Susan drew me a map of the crossing locations and physically shown me the locations of the buoys. We had a pet

People do not listen to the bad reviews on this place expecialy the most recent one they r completely bs me and my family stayed here for a week and have no idea what they r talking about the owners were very friendly and welcoming we brought our puppy with us and had no probs as they have pet friendly cottages just gotta book one of those susan is… a great person to chat to and will give u lots of tips for fishing as for randy great guy can tell hes busy man but when our toilet clogged he was there to help in no time to fix it for us as for the cottage very clean and relaxing they have

Every SINGLE time we visit is better than the previous!!!
In my opinion, the location is next to none and the only reason it is a resort that prebooks a year in advance (granted there are cancellations) is because of the experience there.
We have been to many resorts that hosted inconsiderate people, disturbing others and ruining vacations for the people who came to relax and have a good time. This does not happen here because the owners ensure that everyone enjoys the property. Which, in my opinion, ensures I have a fabulous time upon every return. Thank you for that - truly!

Where to start?! I've been renting cottages for 30 years, have a 5 star rating on ABNB and great relationships everywhere I've rented. Our family are all vaccinated and we are currently in the second phase of reopening Ontario.
I'll summarize.. in my opinion the owner Susan should not own any business dealing with people.
Do not stay here, stay anywhere else, or just stay home. That's how bad this owner Susan is!

Awesome holiday!
I just got back from a week long vacation at this resort and I have nothing but positive things to say.
We stayed in Cottage 7, and our friends rented out three other cottages. They were in great shape and were extremely clean upon arrival!
The grounds are beautiful. The resort is kept neat and tidy. The grass is always cut, there are cute perennial gardens around the cottages, and the docks are beautiful!
Though Sunshine Cove is a great place to relax, there are also many opportunities to keep entertained including borrowing a paddleboat/canoe/kayak, jumping off the dock,

My family and I stay on Rice Lake every year. This year, we had difficulty finding a place to rent, everywhere was booked up! We eventually found Sunshine Cove and decided to give it a try. The owners had many… rules that needed to be followed. Most were very understandable for safety, health and covid reasons. Others were not. (I.e no 420 activities, no visitors, that sort of thing) We were told before arriving that people who were not in our household would not be allowed to stay or visit the cottage. This was disappointing, but we were honest and people outside of our household were excluded

Today is our last day and I would recommend this resort to anybody. Very clean and well taken care of. We meet some great people, most of us where from Essex County. We are looking to book for next year. They have done a great job with keeping everyone safe and healthy. We where in cottage #2 with a great view of the lake. Keep this resort in mind if you are looking to book somewhere.Thank you Susan and Randy for the great week.

Excellent resort will defiantly be back. Susan and Randy are wonderful people and very accommodating. Cottages were spotless and very well maintained. Views of the lake from all cottages is amazing. We had a great week here. Everything was clean and well taken care of. The owners were extremely helpful and friendly, and helped make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible (even accounting for the covid-19 mandatory restriction guidelines that were still in place during the week we were here). The boat we rented was in perfect shape and got us around the lake no problem. The owners are extremely knowledgeable about the lake and surrounding area, and provided us with plenty of actionable fishing tips.
No complaints at all. I highly recommend this place.

We have been coming here as a family for a few years but my husband has been coming with his Dad & Brother for many more as a Father’s Day outing! The cottages we have stayed in are always clean and well kept.… They are well supplied with all you need to cook/eat for the week. The Pontoon boats we have borrowed on occasion are always well maintained and the owners Sue & Randy are absolutely wonderful to deal with from booking our trip to check out! Even with Covid restrictions this year it was a fabulous vacation as always. The fishing was great, this year I caught my biggest
