Services
Our practice has had roots in the community since 1982. Our services and technology have evolved since those early days, but our outstanding commitment to our patients has always remained the same. We're continuously working to provide our patients with the best care possible, through facility renovations and updated product offerings.
If you're between the ages of 20 and 64, you should have an eye exam every 2 years. Once you're 65, you should have yearly eye examinations. Regular check-ups are the most effective way to prevent the progression of eye disease and keep you seeing your best. Most eye exams take about an hour. During that time, we get to know you and your eye care needs.
Unlike adults, children often can't tell they have a vision problem. They aren't aware that they are seeing the world differently. Additionally, many eye issues, like myopia, develop in childhood. In order to catch these issues early to prevent them from impacting your child's learning, your child should have an eye exam once per year.
People living with diabetes are at risk of developing eye diseases exclusive to diabetes, like diabetic retinopathy and diabetic macular edema. Diabetes can also increase your risk of other eye diseases, including cataracts, age-related macular degeneration, and glaucoma.
The risk of vision loss for those with diabetes is 25 times higher than for those without, but with early detection and treatment, there is a 95% reduction in the risk of blindness.Fundus photography uses a digital camera to take photos of the retina, the inner layer at the back of the eye. By closely examining your retina, we can detect signs of diseases like diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular edema, and age-related macular degeneration.

Just like glasses, contact lenses need to be customized for your unique eyes. That's why we offer contact lens exams and fittings to make sure your contacts are the perfect fit. We use specialized techniques and equipment to measure your corneal topography, dimensions, and moisture to find the perfect contacts for your eyes.

First appointment there and warmly greeted. I was taken back to examination room in a timely fashion. Preliminary tests done , meeting with optometrist and more tests all done in professional manner but still made you feel like they truly cared about your well being. Wonderful Lady helped me pick out my glasses snd appreciated her honesty and help making my selection. It was a very great experience and look forward to going back.

I had the greatest experience with Dr McCann and Lorna at Upper Richmond Optometry. Dr McCann was very thorough, listened to my concerns and explained everything in a meaningful way. He walked me through what I could expect with my kids, so that I could best prepare them for a visit. Lorna, was worth her weight in gold. She was so intentional about… her approach to helping me find glasses that suit my face, as well as my lifestyle. She was patient, and more important, she was honest. She made the process of finding my perfect frames so effortless, and enjoyable! Also, what a great selection

Extremely skilled and professional. Helpful with other ideas and treatment that I didn’t even have in my thoughts for that appointment. Spent all the time with me that I needed To carefully pick out something that suited me and I was really going to like. Very clean environment and the office as a whole were timely and their services. The flexibility for the early morning appointment was a fantastic way to start my day.

Despite the pandemic, the entire staff at Upper Richmond Optometry made my first eye doctor’s appointment in more than five years an incredible experience.
From the ease of checking in to my appointment, to the friendly smiles from everyone inside, I felt extremely welcomed, and knew I was in good hands.
Dr. Steph did a fantastic job explaining to me what was going on with my optical health, and made sure I was aware of everything she was testing or checking for. When it came time to tell me I needed glasses she showed a compassion and friendliness of a doctor who had been in their role for
