Dr. King earned her Optometry Degree at Bradford University, UK and has done further training at the University of Waterloo. She has practiced Optometry for over 20 years, in the UK, the Caribbean and now for more than 10 years in Canada. She manages our team and makes sure all of our skills work together to help support your health goals.

Short-sightedness, or myopia, is increasing throughout the world. Family history, ethnic background, environment (living indoors, in cities) and carrying out near tasks, such as screen use, have all been linked to the development of myopia. However, there is no clear evidence to suggest that screen time alone is the direct cause.
Amblyopia, colloquially called lazy eye, is a condition in which the eye cannot perform its intended function due to neurological neglect. An eye affected by amblyopia does not receive the stimulation it needs from the brain to behave normally, which causes the brain to favor the healthy eye. It develops from strabismus (eye-turn) or untreated refractive errors.

I have and also my family have been patients of Dr. King for years. We were disappointed to find out from Lens Crafters that she left and they didn't tell where she went. Thankfully for Google we found her at St. Laurent Mall. She is always thorough and she takes her time to make sure everything is good. She doesn't rush you out of the office.

My wife and I had a fabulous check up with Dr. Janelle King! She was friendly and listened to our concerns we had about our eyes and was very easy to talk to. She took her time making sure that our prescriptions were just right and all in all it was a very thorough exam. We also really appreciated that she explained everything she was doing while examining us .We really felt comfortable and confident with her examining our eyes.
Probably one of the best optometrist in Ottawa and surrounding area.

Dr. King is the BEST optometrist I’ve been to in years! She’s very patient, and takes the time to explain everything in ways that are very comprehensible. She’s extremely friendly and approachable, and you always feel like she’s actually listening to you and your concerns! Looking forward to my next eye exam!

Apts for my 2 kids and my father were never on time when we went. My son was given an apt in march 2019 that was 30 mins before the place was even open and even then we were taken in late. After my father and my son went for a second opinion they needed new prescriptions as the ones she gave were wrong. would not recommend. Kids and father are now going elsewhere from now on

I really want to compliment Dr King on how hard she's worked to keep her patients happy. I've seen her as a patient for almost 8 years now and she is still one of my favourite doctors! I always learn something new at my appointments and my prescriptions are always perfect I hope you come back to Orleans soon but honestly I'll follow you anywhere in Ottawa.

I was pleasantly surprised to see how thorough she was and how much she cared about my eyes. She discovered a few things that my previous optometrist failed to diagnose. She truly loves her profession and cares about her patients.
The other thing that I like about this doctor is that she doesn’t push glasses on you. You get your prescription and then you do what you want to do.

State of the art office. Old school kindness and very personable. Dr. King is very very smart and thorough. After taking my daughter to see a number of specialists, Dr. King was the only one that was able to detect my daughter's vision problem and started treatment straight away with CHEO staff and another trusted colleague. Staff here are friendly and accommodating. If glasses are required, Dr. King's office is conveniently located through Len's Crafter. Highly recommend you "see" this Doctor! #localguide

I had an issue with my eyes that could have been very serious and was slotted in to see Dr. King very quickly. She performed an extremely thorough examination to rule out a serious condition and assured me that my eyes were ok. She was calm, professional, yet friendly and comforting. I appreciate the patient care this office provides.

The receptionists there are unbelievably rude. The doctor herself is quite dishonest and wants you to buy glasses even when you don't need them. I got a second opinion and turns out I do not need lenses! Very… dishonest way of doing business. She is also rude, and sneaky. Never recommend her, and I've spoken to other optometrists and apparently they had tons of complaints from other patients about her as well.
