Dream Cycle
We see a lot of bikes at Dream Cycle, but the Soma Grand Randonneur is unique: The lightest Soma frame, it has the geometry of a vintage road bike, but is optimized to carry a front load. Pictured above, the model we have in stock is the third version of the Grand Randonneur. With this new version, Soma has tweaked the steering to be extra smooth while maintaining the low trail geometry in the front of the frame.

Designed for 650b rims, it can now run tyres up to a width of 47mm. In keeping with its classic aesthetic, it takes a 1 threaded headset, but has been modernized to be through-axle. If you've scheduled a consultation with us, you should be prepared to help us out with the following information. Think contact points: Handlebars, Saddle, and Pedals.
Services
Everyone who has ever worked in a bike shop has dreamed, at least once, of owning their own store. For most people, this dream fades, dies or is replaced by something new. But for some, the dream never dies - and for a select few, if they're smart, lucky and work hard, the dream actually comes true.
Dream Bike Build - $300 - You pick your parts! The same treatment the pros get! Your frame gets faced and chased & the internal tubes get coated with a rust inhibitor/frame saver. Wheels are hand built by our team, we'll install & adjust all of your parts to torque spec, dial in your fit information, and make your bike 'tour' ready for you to pick up.
Running a retail bicycle store produces an unimaginable amount of packaging. First, there are the boxes the goods get shipped in and the actual packing for each product and occasionally their plastic packaging. Then there are the broken bits that we take off your bike. With this in mind, Dream Cycle has always "Been Green".
How does this work? Come into the shop & feel free to ask questions. We're open 7 days a week and have about a dozen bikes built up in different ways for you to check out! The complete bikes can be ordered in any size. About half the bikes we sell are custom built. If you like what you see then schedule a consultation with us.

I took my commuter bike to Dream Cycle two days ago, with major damage to a wheel/spokes and drivetrain overhaul needed. I got my bike back within 24 hours and high quality job, and cost was reasonable considering the amount of parts/effort required. Outstanding communication along the way. They were also totally Covid-aware and staff were wearing masks. Thanks Ethan!

Went to go pick up my bike, dude behind the desk serving me wasn't wearing a mask. This is during the province-wide indoor mask mandate. Weak.
Their prices were pretty good and they did a decent job with my service, but I won't go back for this reason.

Positive: Professionalism
I was having a very annoying creaking when pedalling uphill on my Specialized Roubaix and Cameron did a "drive train therapy" on the bike. Now it is a silent ride. Great work at a great price!

Reading past reviews, I was hoping/thinking this would be the best shop I set foot into, but true colours were shown after some time. This is a long review, but this is the story that unfolded, so bear with me!
Back in February, I contacted Darren because I wanted to do a custom build with them. I was excited, he was excited. I was about to bring him a frame from outside his shop, which I had sourced elsewhere. We had a 50$ consult about some of my expectations. We went over time and I was not charged for that, which I appreciated. A week or so later, he sent me an excel of items for the build

A great little shop with excellent customer service and bicycle mechanics who know what they are doing, especially with older steel-framed bicycles.
Dream Cycle is a busy and popular shop, but still charge very reasonable prices. Well recommended.

Took my bike on here to get a tire tube replaced as well as broken gear thaaang' and a thingamajig tightened etc... prices are very veryyyyyyy reasonable and they know their stuff.
Such good service that I'm taking my girlfriend's bike in today a week later to get a top to bottom overhaul because I trust their skillz and that they won't price unfairly. A GEM on Commercial Drive!
Highly recommend.

As soon as I walked in it became my favorite bike shop in Canada. I haven't been to them all of course but I've been to a lot them. Service was awesome, technicians were top notch and they have so many pretty things for sale. Buy your next bike or accessory here. I know I am.

No doubt I am a happy customer. There was a squeaky noise in the bicycle pedal crank arm, I took my cycle to another repair shop, they were unable to fix it and they charged me for labour. The Dream Cycle charged me less money and permanently fixed it. These people are good and they know their work. They deserve 5 stars.

(Repairs only, haven't yet bought one of their lovely bikes).

Have been in multiple times for weird bolts and random things, and they have taken the time - sometimes a multi-minute search involving multiple staff - to find these weird things, and then declined to charge me.

Lovely folks. Several repairs done quickly, no attitude, and helpful advice.

I limped in with a jammed chain an hour before they were closing for a long weekend. They were swamped. To my surprise Keifer was cheerful and eager to try to tackle my issue. After checking things out he shook his head: it needs a new derailleur and there is no time today.
I pleaded: can you get me back in the road? I live on the other side of town. He struggled with the jammed chain and was about to give up when it popped free...yay! His $20 charge seemed cheap under those circumstances. Throughout he remained very pleasant and friendly. I wish I lived closer. They would be my regular bike shop

Good stuff. Lots of lovely high-end parts to ogle, the guys working there are really nice, they cater to the upper price point crowd but that's all good. Definitely check them out!

This review is based off visiting once, but that one experience was far better than going to the closer, mac-talla cycles. Friendly, informative staff gave me options for my constantly flat tire. They were prompt and went the extra mile to grease up my chain and fill up my other tire, as well. I will be back for any bike related purchases.

This place has it together when it comes to wheel building. I actually had two sets of wheels laced up here. I was able to pick everything out in one shot for my combination of parts for my wheels for my cyclocross. The staff were also patient and understanding when it came to my indecisiveness. Each time the wheel sets were done on time as promised and felt great.

The mechanics are also great when it comes to servicing. I had an overhaul done here and when they were done it felt better than new. The shifting didn't work that well when the bike was new.

I really wish I had better things to say about this place... its right in my 'hood, they have a cool little shop with great stock and they appear to build beautiful bikes, though I build my own so I've never bought one. I have, however, been by searching for parts and each time all I got was a boatload of pretense and condescension. I always thought this was strange as I'm a steel bike lover myself. I've interacted with Darren the most and he's given me (and my partner, incidentally) attitude each and every time, to the point where neither of us will go in any more.

The goal: get my girlfriend a bike helmet for our afternoon bike ride.

After going a couple other bike shops on The Drive, we enjoyed the pleasant and cozy size of Dream cycle. There's not much space, but it's not cramped. I think all the Brooks leather accessories help give Dream Cycle a gentlemen-y aire to it.

What stood out for me and my girlfriend most was the super friendly service. To have a female working behind the counter was a huge help to my missus to pick out a helmet they had in stock. She was very knowledgeable, and so was the bloke in the back who I chatted with. Would

Gold stars and high fives for Dream Cycle.

I've only ever popped in for emergency repairs/ tune ups. The lovely men who work here get my bike back into riding condition super quick and for a reasonble price.

They'll fix what I've brought the bike in for, and let me know if I need other repairs/maintenance work done, without being pushy or condescending.

And if you're looking to get some spiffy accessories for your bike they've got em. They also do custom builds.

I won't bring my bike anywhere else for service.

I went into Dream Cycle last fall looking to get my break pads replaced as they were in desperate condition!
I brought in my bike- an old heavy steel bike that I didn't pay much money for. I explained my problem, the mechanic took a look and he told me that it would be at least $50.00 and that I would have to come by on a weekday and it could take a couple days to repair.
I went home to mull it over.
Later that week I met a new friend who was a bike mechanic and I mentioned about the whole situation.
"What a rip off!!" he said "I'll come over and fix them, brake pads

Good customer service on the phone and in person. Fixed my gear/shifting issue last year with an inexpensive cable fix; for that they've won my trust. I've finally found a shop where I don't have to worry that they're going to upsell and overcharge me for things I don't really need. Efficient service; way better than the other bike shop further south on the Drive.

I've dropped into this so a number of times to buy gear, and the staff were knowledgeable and took time to help me whether I was buying pannier bags or bar tape. They've even steered me towards a cheaper purchase when they thought the product would better suit my needs, which i feel is always a good sign and wins my business long term.

They keep a pump by the door and are good with letting anyone use it whenever, and I've had less pleasant experiences for the same at other shops. If you buy 10,000 coffees at Starbucks, you shouldn't feel guilty using the restroom if you don

Man, this place knocked my socks off. If I had $2000+ to spend on a bike, I would, in a heart beat, buy it from Dream Cycle. When you walk in, the first thing you notice is a store full of frames, wheels and top of the line cycling and bike equipment.

I stopped in to see what it would look like to get myself some new wheels from Dream Cycle and I chatted with Darren, the owner. At about $300 a wheel they were out of my price range, but if you can afford to invest in what they've got I more than recommend it.

After wandering the city, I returned a few days later to buy some breaks and get

Finally a bike store where people know what they are talking about! I had been to 4 other bike stores earlier today for a bottom-bracket issue. I should have gone here first. I got the crank therapy package and it was ready same-day! The bike is SOLID! These guys care, really know what they are doing and share great maintenance tips rather than wait for you to come in with a problem that could have been prevented.

My first custom built bike, and very impressed with the service so far. They have a huge following and priced very well in comparison to the rest in town.... Custom built from the ground up in a steel frame, retro classic cross cycle..

Check out their website and speak to Darren the owner he knows his stuff and has the better shop connection with his clients..

I've been dealing with Dream for about two years now. from the moment i stepped in the door asking about a complete build they've been honest and personable with me--exactly the kind of shop you want to build a relationship with.

Once you build that relationship they keep you coming back--luckily i've needed very few repairs (just a light truing after breaking in my wheels), but they take care of them so fast you can often be back on your ride within a day or two.

they are not interested in selling you cheap product thats going to wear out, and they'll tell you as much. they

Great shop! I've been in there for a quick repair and when I need to put in a pricey special order. Bigger shops tend to keep your bike forever when you need a fix, or consider a special order a pain in the butt. At dream they were happy to get me back on the road ASAP, and were excited to help me order exactly what I needed for my summer bike tour. Also, no pacing around and reading the back of a helmet box during your repair here. Sit down at the "bar" and chat with the mechanic or catch up on reading some magazines.
