The Italian Bakery is Victoria's first and only Italian bakery. Established in 1978, it has grown from baked goods, gelato and Italian coffee to meals to eat-in-or-go options. We offer a fine selection of northern Italian pasteries, sweets, cakes, and organic sourdough breads. The Italian Bakery is a family owned and operated, multi-generational bakery.
We pride ourselves in great quality products and a warm family atmosphere where not only staff but also customers feel like they are part of the family. Our bread is made with pure and simple ingredients with traditional flavour development through long rises and natural starters. We specialize in delicious Italian and French-style cakes and pastries including wedding cakes and event catering.

Why can't I give more than 5 stars? I go almost every week, sometimes more than once a week. I always look forward a cheese bun and a latte.
Amazing service, friendly staff, delicious food, excellent coffee. Reminds me of my honeymoon in Italy. I have nothing but love for this place and I feel lucky that it is on my doorstep.

Gourmet alert! Everyone who loves European style pastries should come check The Italian Bakery! When I came today and saw the right meringue I lost it. I think it’s the first time I found meringue in Canada. Not the pie, meringue. It smelled right, like fresh eggs. I tried 6 different desserts, and small portion sizes are just perfect. Delicious! Seriously delicious, lots of texture, and in gingersnaps there is real ginger. It’s good I live far away from that place, because when I was leaving I bought 6 extra cookies to go. They also have selection of fresh bread, homemade pasta, and pizza

I used to always drive by this neighbourhood staple. I finally stopped in to pick up a cake on New Year's Eve since I was pressed for time and hadn't had time to think of anywhere else to go. It's much smaller than I thought. There's no parking available. I found the prices for the bread much higher than expected compared to other local bakeries. However I do see the charm of this little place if I lived in the neighbourhood and wanted to go for a walk and grab a coffee and a bite. I picked up the tiramisu cake. They come in 3 sizes. The flavour was good but the cake was dry

This is a bakery that has been excellent for years. The baked goods are delicious and the atmosphere authentic. Plus, I love the neighbourhood, which hasn't been 'prettified' but still has great tree lined streets and wide side walks- go there in the spring when the trees are in full bloom, grab a cappuccino and a chocolate croissant, head right on Tolmie and explore. If I had one wish (because I don't have any complaints) it would be a separate till and barristo for customers staying to eat. Oh, and the gelato - fantastic. Only wish they would stay open later in the summer

What do you do when your boyfriend leaves you all alone in his house with nothing to make for breakfast (and no coffee maker)?
You walk down the street to the Italian Bakery for a chocolate croissant and a latte.
We're both big fans of this place- mostly because of the DELICIOUS BAKED GOODS, but also because it's got a bit of everything (including gelato).
The service isn't always spectacular, but it's definitely a good place to go for bread, coffee, or an orange ginger cookie.

This bakery is down the street from me, so it's pretty handy if I need to buy last minute bread. They have a good selection and they bake their stuff fresh everyday. Out of their pastries, I like their plain croissant and their brioche. They recently started making a blueberry cream cheese croissant that was reaally good. Hopefully they keep that one.
