Shabusen is one of my favorite restaurants in Vancouver. If you are someone who can eat a lot you definitely get your money's worth. Eating here is a fun experience as you get to cook your food as you eat, I love bringing people who haven't had this experience before. My only complaint is the lack of organization and good customer service at the front desk. Even if you make a reservation, expect to be waiting at least 30 minutes to get a table. I would highly recommend this place for anyone who wants a unique dining experience or loves Japanese/Korean cuisine.

It is rare to find an AYCE in Vancouver. I had low expectations when I decided to go to Shabusen Yakiniku House, since I've read the reviews before.
I arrived at 6pm, no lines and the restaurant was ready to start a busy thursday night.
Overall, it was a ok experience. I don't have anything to complain. The sushi was fresh and the service was friendly. Manager came a couple times to check back on us. The corn bread was delicious.
I couldn't stand the meat, the beef smell made me nauseous.
I wouldn't go back. It's expensive and I hadn't enjoyed much, but I would

Eating whatever we want is a great option. Taste is also good for the price. But customer services can be improved. Waiter often reminded us of the time while we were eating which was kind of annoying. Also we couldn’t chose the amount of tip. I understand it’s too busy but if it is improved, the restaurant will be a lot better.

One of the few all you can eat sushi/kbbq places in Vancouver. I miss when there used to be a lot more.
I was disappointed they don't have oyster motoyaki anymore, but they do give you huge hunks of salmon. The grilled beef was delicious. Their mixed sashimi was also great--they're probably odds and ends but you get whole bits of scallop! Also the cooked spicy octopus is also addictively good.
I'd recommend booking a reservation in advance since it gets quite busy. We had the best server in our most recent trip--he was a middle age man who was very jovial and fast!

This was my first all-you-can-eat experience, and I honestly had pretty low expectations for quality, but I was pleasantly surprised by this place. Sushi certainly wasn't top-level gourmet, but it would have been perfectly acceptable quality for a mid-tier a la carte restaurant, and was definitely more skillfully prepared than fast-food sushi and a lot of the Korean-operated sushi restaurants in my area (I have nothing against these places, but traditional restaurants seem to have a certain finesse to their sushi that's hard to replicate). The unagi sushi was my favourite.

This was one of the only all you can eat spots I could find in Van. Coming from Toronto, this AYCE was not comparable in quality at all. The price your paying is mainly for the quantity. The meat and sushi were very mediocre - not terrible but not great. Our meats also kept sticking to the grill early on. The table itself also wasn't really that clean. We came for dinner and there was a line for walk ins so i'd recommend making a reservation if you plan to visit.

So I phoned in to ask for the price because on their website it shows 33.95, but my friends said it's 36.95
the guy picked up the phone sounds like i had interrupted his favourite football game: extremely unwilling to answer my question. And yes, the price is 38.95, even higher than what my friend told me 1 month earlier.
At the end of conversation I said 'than...' and the dude hang up, won't even allow me to finish my 'thank you'. okay.
Edit: I received some pics from a friend who worked in DT, she took some pics about their menu and price. You can see on their menu it shows $36.95 (on a correction

For buffet, it's alright. Parking is tricky sometimes. Prices have increased, with decreased quality. My favourite menu items are their BBQ shortribs and coffee jelly. What irks me is their portioning control. Many items we ordered never arrived in full amount. Ordering 10 spicy sashimi is equivalent of ordering 1. Frankly, i find this quite annoying. Items are also often missed without warning, so you need to reorder if you want it, like how we ordered coffee jelly twice, and both times never received. Calling the server over usually does the trick though.

Ahhhh, Shabusen...
This place reminds me of the old Hon's on Keefer, in that it remains reliably OK, but not fabulous. It's a kind of comfort food outlet that seems peculiarly suited to Vancouver palates, a sort of hybrid Japanese/Korean temple of marinated meats and overcooked rice. The good news? They're not kidding when the say "all you can eat". If you have ravenous teens, this place makes a great family destination that will satisfy even the hollowest of teenage legs. There's no bad news, per se. Is the meat on offer of the highest quality? Not

Very fast service, and very attentive to our requests. Though it can get very busy quickly at night so always make your reservation, otherwise expect a line up. If you don't finish your food right away make sure it's not close to the edge of table, otherwise they assume your are done and take it away. Would definitely go back again when AYCE craving hit again.

My family and I chose to celebrate a birthday at this restaurant it was a special occasion as it has been a long time since we were able to all of our family to be together like this. The food was okay and came really fast however the service was absolutely terrible. There were no server coming to us to ask us if we wanted anything to drink we had to yell after someone. We got our drinks close to finishing our food. I made the reservation for our party in advance and had specified we are coming with a stroller which was not accommodated as we had to take the baby out since the stroller could not

Been going to Shabusen for a year now and every visit was excellent leaving me wanting to come back again and again! All of the food was delicious and the servers where all super kind. All of the food came in under ten minutes. Though I really do love there all you can eat menu it is about $20 per adult but in my opinion it is totally worth it. Would totally recommend!

The BBQ beef was tough and a little hard to eat, but their BBQ short ribs and lamb were well seasoned and tender. Would definitely recommend getting those two dishes. The rest of the food is just okay. There is a limited selection of foods, and they have taken away the oyster motoyaki (which is one of my favorite AYCE dishes).
Overall, it could have been better.

Food was delicious, came fast, Service was good considering how packed and busy it was. Just had to wait 10 mins for our table, making a reservation beforehand is highly recommended. Or else you gotta wait a long time.
Contrary to other reviews. The owner was very friendly and cracked a few jokes. A very pleasant dinner experience

If there was minus, I would give-5. We booked a table already, but when we got there , we were told that their employees misunderstood us. They explained that they didn't accept 2 people for a reserved table, so they didn't reserve table without any apologies. When we were booking a table, they didn't say that. I was so disappointed on our Wedding anniversary. I won't go there anymore.

It's me again after several times having lunch or dinner in this place. After yesterday I should minus two stars from my review because of the service. As usual we were craving for bbq beef short ribs and Shabusen was always the number one place to go to. However, I experienced something quite unprofessional yesterday.
I had a miso soup in my last order and the waitress seemed forgot it. So when the manager (the middle age man with glasses, he was usually very nice every time I went there but I did not know what happened that day) passed by my table, my husband kindly asked him if he can

My cousin from Japan loves this place. I guess you just don't get that Kind of experience there. And funny as it seems ( if you've ever dined here on a busy day) I had my in-laws eat here from Tokyo to dine and meet my parents about 20 years ago. The service was about the same. Nothing's changed. But if you ask me why? I have no idea. Doesn't matter if the service is impeccable or sloppy or if its slow or fast. If you have to ask a hundred times to get your item that you oRdered or something shows up that you didn't . A place like Shabusen is about the perceived

Mediocre and expensive buffet. Selection is very broad with lots of options but the meat/sashimi tasted very odd. The raw sushi tasted very watery and the meats had a strange gooey texture, even after cooking. Something must have been expired as the members of my party and I felt terrible when we got home.

Two things I really liked about this place is value for money and that we were able to order nigiri sushi 8 pcs max per person. We were able to sear/grill it ourselves. The max# is reasonable for the price. And you can order other sashimi and sushi rolls unlimited. I also appreciate the policy of not wasting food.
Setting: it was pretty nice. Didn't wait long to be seated. It is located on the second floor across Victoria Secret. Parking: was hard! Well it was in a really popping location. There are a lot of luxury brand shops to visit.

We came here based on a friend's suggestion. Upon coming here, there was no host/hostess and we weren't sure if we just seat ourselves or what. After 5 minutes of being ignored, we just went ahead and seated ourselves. The place is old, dusty, cramped, and loud. Menus are on the table but servers were also missing.
We all did the AYCE lunch on a week day for under 20CAD/ person which is cheap! We're all from the land of buffets and AYCE spots: Vegas. They do have an 8-piece limit on their sashimi.
Their salmon is the best thing on their menu so, we loaded up on those: sashimi
