There are many different techniques and options to treat teeth that are discolored, chipped, misshapen or missing. Fillings, crowns, & dentures, these are all common procedures used to increase the strength and function of your teeth when damage has occurred.
Her cheerful and friendly disposition has helped her to fit right in! A career change and keen interest in dentistry brought Janet to Halifax where she graduated from NSCC Dental Assisting in 2012. Janet is known among our patients for her positive attitude and easy going nature. Anyone who is feeling anxious can be put at ease in her presence, making her an excellent fit for patients of all ages.
Melissa is a well rounded Registered Dental Hygienist who has worked in orthodontics and general dentistry. She graduated in 2009 with her Diploma in Dental Hygiene from Oulton College in Moncton, NB. After living and working in Ontario for several years, Melissa moved home to the Head of St. Margaret's Bay and joined our practice.
Even though children will lose their baby teeth, it is important to introduce proper oral health care at an early age. Decay in baby teeth can lead to pain, infection, tooth loss and can damage future permanent teeth. Getting your child comfortable with the dentist at a young age is an excellent way to prevent future dental phobias.
While we strive to prevent tooth loss, dentures are an excellent option for replacing multiple (or all) teeth. With the advancement of implants, we can create 'implant supported dentures' which result in solid, durable complete dentures that 'click' into place. Dr. MacPherson will assess your situation and help determine the best option for you.

As someone with a life long experience as dentistry patient, I can say clearly that Dr. Paula MacPherson is one of the best dentists I met. All work done was %100 successful. Also all Southgate Dentistry team is very friendly, yet very professional. Everyone knows what to do and what to say. They knew the answer to every question I asked. I also took my little girl for some work and she was happy throughout all sessions. I recently moved to Nova Scotia and was a bit anxious to if I'd find a good dentist like the one I had back home. My first visit was nothing but extraordinary. I got an appointment the day after I sent an email. I hadn't been to the dentist in over a year due to Covid-19 and I knew I'd have cavities. As suspected, during my visit I was informed I had a few. After my cleaning, they performed my fillings on the same visit! I'm very impressed with the friendliness of each and every one of the staff members.

Disappointed with there service. My wife had an appointment with them. They told her that the insurance will cover her dental scaling despite her concerns. They knew that it won't cover but they let her paid upfront then told they were sorry as it didn't cover. We felt like they just stole our money. They were rude and unreasonable when we called them back to ask about this. We will never go back there. Folks always make sure call your insurance and get a pre estimate from the dental to make sure that you wont pay from your pocket. Never trust this people.

Today I went for a cleaning to Southgate Dentistry, and I have to say this was the BEST cleaning I have ever had. Melissa was extremely meticulous at doing her job, she went above and beyond to clean every single crease and corner of my teeth even with my wires in (from past braces). My teeth have never felt so clean before, she didn't overly talk, it was quiet and she focused on her job which is exactly what I want as a hygienist. I will be returning to Melissa for my routine cleanings, and I am actually excited to be back in 6 months, Thank you Southgate Dentistry for having great staff.

Dr.MacPherson and her team are incredible. They're always professional, helpful, and on time. Most importantly, they are wonderful with my two young children (4 and 2 years old). Both kids love going to see the dentist and have their teeth cleaned. I'm so grateful that Southgate has given my kids positive first experiences going to see the dentist! I would highly recommend Southgate Dentistry to anyone.
