Abby Yoga Studio
Eileen Millar started the studio more than 15 years ago with the vision to provide true Iyengar yoga to the Abbotsford community. This commitment has created a thriving studio that offers a pure yoga experience unlike any other. Abby Yoga Studio provides yoga classes and private sessions for all levels including those with physical limitations.

Each class is unique and caters directly to the needs of each level of student skill. We also have yoga workshops throughout the year. The Iyengar method works on the principle of meditation in action. While concentrating on the action and movement in the poses, one's attention is harnessed inward, integrating both body and mind.
Services
Iyengar yoga has the most rigorous standards for training and certification of all yoga disciplines. To become proficient and teach a minimum of 3 - 5 years training is required. There are seven full levels of certification so only the serious yoga student pursues the Iyengar Yoga path. National Certification requires a minimum 5 years training.
This program is designed for students wanting to deepen their yoga practice and develop a regular home practice who have been studying yoga for one year or more. It will also provide a foundation for those interested in joining the Iyengar yoga teacher training program. We also offer teacher training.
Classes are taught by Eileen who is a Certified Iyengar teacher and Certified yoga therapist by IAYT, International Association of Yoga Therapists. A Yoga therapist has a higher education than the average teaching certification granted by Yoga Alliance. Our smaller pre-registered classes offer more support for those who have structural challenges such as chronic back, neck or joint restrictions.
Set up your device in an area where your teacher can see you and you can see your screen, therefore your teacher. Feel free to invite a friend to try, each student signs into the class and pays separately. Waivers will be sent to them and need to be returned ahead of class day. These smaller groups allows the teacher to meet the needs of the students and provide a progressive learning environment supporting the student's growth in their practice.
She has studied at the Ramamani Iyengar yoga institute in 2005 and 2010 participating and observing in the medical classes. Her most recent trip to India was in 2014 to study with Geeta Iyengar at her 70th birthday intensive. In 2010 she attended a North American therapeutic intensive in Oregon, with Geeta Iyengar for higher level teachers and continued her therapeutic studies with Stephanie Quirk from 2008-2014.

I started going to Iyengar yoga during a very stressful time in my life. Eileen was highly recommended to me by friends. After thirty years of running, my hips and my flexibility was poor. I trusted Eileen to help me physically and emotionally. No where else was I able to get a compassionate and knowledgeable teacher with twenty years of teaching and learning experience, including courses in India under the Iyengar institute. Eileen has helped my body and soul. Her classes are tuned to meet individual needs. I have learned so much about how to age with strength and flexibility. Thank you, Eileen

This yoga is the real thing. Precise instructions so you don't hurt yourself trying to do the poses. I have injuries from the past that limit some of my movements. Iyengar Yoga with the use of props allows me to do poses, strengthen my body so I can keep mobility for the rest of my life!

I have been taking classes with Eileen since 2008 and I feel so fortunate and privileged to have Eileen for my teacher. I came to her when I was doing yoga at home through videos and in tremendous pain. I was no longer running or walking without pain and did not want to give up Yoga too. While I explained my pain she gave me a couple suggestions for my practice and observed me in her class. During my first class with her, she gave me verbal and soft physical corrections and/or props to enhance my practice and correct my posture. I felt better after my first class and after a few classes my pain

Amazing Studio! Eileen is such a skilled teacher with years of personal experience both practicing yoga and teaching yoga. She has a keen eye helping those working with injuries and is kind and compassionate. I always enjoy the classes there and learn something new every time! Abbotsford is soooo lucky to have a teacher and a yoga space like this. I would recommend everyone try Abby Yoga Studio out.
