I can't recommend Moods enough. I was so nervous about getting my hair done after the lockdown, but that feeling was quickly eased as soon as I walked in. They are practicing strict protocols for their safety as well as their clients; I felt safe and at ease from start to finish. I've had Chad, Johanna, and Curtis all cut and colour my hair.

We have a small team of senior stylists only. If someone successfully completes the hiring process at Moods, they have been considered among the best in Vancouver. Chad, co-owner of Moods with 20+ years of experience, has his work appear regularly in salon and fashion publications. He is regularly called on to be a "hair expert" for the Globe and Mail, Fashion Magazine, and the Vancouver Sun.
Despite being named Canadian Hair Stylist of the Year, Chad is down-to-earth, responsive to requests, approachable and relatively easy to get in to see. The cuts and highlights have been impeccable. Best experience with a salon in years and years. I had the most amazing experience with Jessica. I'm very picky about my hair and she listened to all my concerns and made suggestions based on what had previously been done to my hair.
Our team and our managers are hair-nerdy, high-level ethical, fun, curious, inspired, clever, caring, amazing human beings. Pay is significantly above the norm, because we love above the norm kinda talent. I am looking for a position at Moods because I just arrived in Vancouver. I have 7 years of experience at an amazing salon and I'm excited to meet your talented team!
I grew up in the 70's in one of those families that eat lentils, grew sprouts, made our own clothes and listened to Bob Dylan. It is ingrained in me to have a personal awareness of shrinking my ecological footprint. We are proudly making efforts every day with a healthy planet and a happy staff in mind.

I am so incredibly happy with my results from Patrick!
First off, he was incredibly kind and professional. I didn’t have an exact idea of what I wanted but I showed him some pictures and he did warn me that we might not be able to get as light/cool as I wanted since I had dark/previously dyed hair. The result was even better than anticipated though!
Not only that, but the apprentices in the salon were also amazing, they were professional and knew what they were doing.
I believe the prices reflect the quality of work being done, it’s no more expensive than anywhere else in Vancouver.

To give this review some context - I went in as a model for a free blowdry by one of the apprentices so I'm not going to comment on the process or result of the styling. The apprentice was friendly (a star for this).
What I want to share is that not soon after I left the salon, my scalp started to feel irritated (e.g. itchy). I'm not sure whether it was due to the cleanliness of tools/facility, the technique, or that I was sensitive to the hair products. Anyway, I felt pretty uncomfortable, especially because it is still COVID times. I had to wash my hair after I got home and the irritation stopped

My experience was a little different because I was a model and not paying the full price. But I would happily pay the full price and then some! I felt really listened to by Chad and Emily (my hair is naturally curly but I wear it straight, and when I told them that they actually listened instead of proceeding to cut and style my hair curly because they think it’s nice, regardless of how I feel about it - this happens a LOT when I get my hair cut).
My hair can be challenging because it requires blow drying and straightening just to sort of get it to the point where it can be finished in a cut

Fabulous experience and haircut. Chad is wonderful ❤ and it's well worth the trip since I am from Bowen Island . Can't imagine going anywhere else after being here. Lovely serene beautiful salon and Chad himself is a true expert but presents with humility and gentleness and is interested in knowing what you want and making it happen with your type of hair . Can't recommend Moods enough !

Curtis is an artist! He gave me lots of great advice about my hair, understood exactly what I was looking for and cut my hair solely with a razor - that requires some serious skillset... But most importantly - I look stunning and I'm really happy! After a long search I found my perfect hairstylist! So much so that I'm reluctant to praise him with such enthusiasm, because once you all realize how incredible he is, I'll have to book my appointments a year in advance ;)

Patrick Uy has taken care of my hair all year. Honestly, probably the best hair cut I've had. I trusted him with my hair and told him to surprise me and he gave me the most unique cut/color. I get so many compliments on it! I haven't wanted to change it since. He's possibly one of the most talented stylists in Vancouver. He's creative and all and super kind and professional. I highly recommend booking him! Have been turning all my friends onto him as well!

Chad has cut, coloured and permed my hair for over 10 years. He is amazing, always giving me what I want: a simple ,easy to mange cut that is age appropriate. After COVID-19 shut down is over, the salon has done an amazing job making the salon safe for staff and clients. They don't just barely meet the recommended health protocols for hair salons, they've done over and above what's recommended. A big thank you for the effort !!

I've been a client here for longer than I can remember...before they even moved to Yaletown and they were in the Pacific Center downtown! That's a LONG time ago! Always professional, always kind, always take the time to remember me and treat me like an old friend. I really appreciate that the stylists there are so confident and experienced - when I want to try something new they always have great suggestions. It's clear that the stylists are taken care of by the owners, and that they take pride in their work.

Has been going to Chad on and off for around 8-9 years and always end up going back to Chad. Every time I have my hair cut with Chad, people on street will ask where I cut my hair. I have bleached and color my hair with Chad, went to other salon for hair treatment and they were impressed with the skills of whoever colored my hair(of course, Chad). Today, Chad has proven again....., my hair needs Chad's magic hands....

Moods is my FAVORITE salon! I came here a couple times and asked for Johanna to cut my hair. Johanna is so skilled and she made my hair looked very stylish and on point! Unlike most of the girls, I have short hair and I think short hair suits me more. I am always afraid that the hair stylist would cut my hair either too short or make it too masculine. Lucky, Johanna is so skilled- she never disappoints.

A trendy little salon in Yaletown with a principal that is hands on and engaging. Service is friendly and warm. I really like how this salon made use of the small space they had, from the hair washing station to the split level loft. Work spaces were kept clean and the apprentices were very reactive and approachable. The color job they did was superb and while I was having my hair coloured, I saw a lot of returning customers who greeted their stylists like close friends. So many bad reviews here! I love Moods! I've seen Chad off and on for about 10 years and always end up back at Moods with Chad. Chad always listens never damages my hair and doesn't cost a fortune. My hair is fine and blond with a lot of red undertones and somehow Chad manages to prevent my hair from ever looking brassy! I come to relax and if you're looking to gossip, some stylists give you their life story then this may not be your place. I find Chad very charming very friendly and have no problem having a lovely conversation with anyone at Moods. It's not a gossipy salon

Moods is FANTASTIC! I've been a client for 10 years. My advice is to take your time and consult with your stylist regarding your hair vision. Every stylist gives their all into their work. Chad of course is world-class, Freddie, Kurtiss! And then there's Johanna!! Johanna is my personal rockstar in terms of making sure my hair is always on point. In addition to being incredibly fashion forward, passionate, and intelligent they're also an incredibly friendly bunch. You can't get better service in Vancouver!

Any blondes looking for a colorist who knows how to achieve your desired "blondness" and perfect shade, I recommend Johanna hands down.
I have (almost) always been blonde- but more brassy and my hair would bring out an orange tint in places. No idea why, as my natural color is light brown/ dark blonde?
Anyway, not only do I have the perfect shade of cool, NATURAL blonde, my hair has also DOUBLED in thickness (over 2yr period) and is 3/4 down my back thanks to having an amazing colorist who knows what she's doing when it comes to bleach.
SO happy to have stumbled on Moods 2 years

I haven't even had the chance to get my hair done here and I'm already leaving a bad review.
I booked my appointment with Chad over three weeks ago for Friday at 1:30pm. I have a six month old so I had to make arrangements for someone to watch him.
I get a call from the salon on the day of my appointment at 1:22pm saying that my appointment was at 12:45pm. I immediately called them back and told them that I thought my appointment was at 1:30 but that I could be there in the next 5 minutes.
The receptionist told me that it was too late to come and that Chad wouldn't have time
